The lecture “Do new technologies and multimedia content give a new dimension to works of art and how they influence human behaviour” was held at the 26th International Conference of Printing, Design and Graphic Communications (PDC 22) by Blaž Baromić.
Lecturer Brigita Prole talked about the reach of augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and extended reality (XR) and about new and innovative solutions that provide completely new possibilities and experience of works of art. She gave an overview that people throughout their history have created numerous works of art and that they are exhibited in museums, and galleries, are kept in vaults or are buildings in space. She emphasized the fact that day by day, technology is developing extremely fast and entering people’s lives and that artificial intelligence (AI) has already become our everyday life. Accordingly, the forms of human behaviour, communication and expectations are changing. This lecture showed that thanks to new technologies, existing works of art can respond to new challenges and be interesting to today’s people, by enriching them with multimedia elements, namely: sound, video, text, animation, photography, 3D, and link to the content.
